Have you thought about starting a meditation practice? I really started to explore meditation when I got my first serious injury. Isolated from activities I loved and unable to use my body as an stress relieving outlet, meditation offered a way to find peace during an uncomfortable time in my life. I started with simple deep breathing exercises. Then I explored the work of Jon Kabbat Zinn and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. From there I sampled different meditation apps like Calm, Headspace, and Insight Timer. The pain of my injury went away, but meditation stayed with me. Now finding time for my mental health is a priority. I use meditation daily to access a deeper connection to myself and strengthen my inner wellbeing.

The Start of Something New and Healing
Before I learned how to meditate daily, I was so uptight and anxious all the time. And every time I tried to meditate I would get frustrated. I was so focused on following all of the steps and doing meditation “right”. But there isnt a “right” way to meditate.
Meditation isnt something you do. Meditation is something that does YOU.
As soon as I figured that out, meditation began to work. My body and mind began to relax, perhaps for the first time in my life.
I have been meditating ever since, and I have attended many classes over the years. They each offer a slightly different method of meditation. All methods have benefits, although they may not be right for you.
Many people try to start a daily meditation practice, but they never get started because they think that there are rules to follow or they worry they are not doing it right. Yup, I know exactly how you feel. If you can let go of what you think it should be, meditation can be everything you want it to be. It can help you in health and healing.
I want to share with you an easy guided meditation that can offer you calm. Give this a try and let go of making meditation look a certain way. Let your meditation be whatever you need it to be. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat daily.
